Alfa Romeo 75 3.0 24V from Bulgaria
« : Sub 02:07:27 28.12.2013. »
Hi, my name is Venci and i'm from Bulgaria.
Let me introduce my Alfa 75. She was an ordinary 75 1.8 Dellorto. I've changed the engine with 3.0 12V from Alfa 164. I drove the car with the 12V engine about 2 years. Then i decided to go for 24V. Here are some pictures from the very beginning.

First days with me still 1.8

First track day  :D:

And there came mister V6  :zloco:

And some big breaks

And more track day fun  :yahoo:

How low can you go on streets?

Bigger radiator core from 164 3.0 24V

It was time for 24V

Time for some fun on the highway  ;)

My new rims  :crveni:

Here some videos of my car  :zvizd:

zdravo Venci, dobra rabota  :DD:

very nice job you did on the basic 75, and i like it that you left it clean and simple from outside. sleeper look. the paint looks also fresh and clean.

and yes, welcome to the forum. we will do some work on the web page and the forum should go international, so welcome again  :DD:

Venci ... what did you do with the oil pump? There had to be some modifications

TNT, the top part of the car is with original paint. There was some rust at the usual places at the back. So with the rust repair the car received TS plastics under the doors and painted bumpers. The rear wheel arches were slightly modified.

Unfortunately the new red paint isn't quite the same, but I'll have to live with it.

z3kan, the oil pump is one of the reasons i like the 166 24V engine more then the 164. I prefer it driven by the chain rather then a cam belt. The fuel injection is the second reason.
So the upper oil sump had to be modified and new lower was made. Luckily the right people for this job work near me and we are good friends. They made for me the intake, the exhausts etc.

Well there is one slight problem. Not exactly a problem but the engine uses 10 liters of oil with this sump. It hurts only when i change it  :D: and have to pay the oil.

was it not possible to shorten the oil pickup? i see the mesh is also sticking out of the body. maybe a flat mesh would save a litre of oil  :DD:

btw, why do you put 10l oil inside. just put 6.5-7l like usual and make a new dipstick with new markings.  :hm:

I agree with you Venci .... 24v out of 164 is very good engine but 24v out of 166 has some better solutions and more bhp .... and since 24v out of 164 is getting harder to find a 166 lump will be the way to go in the future for converting ... with a little modifications made  :D:

since I'm not so much into mechanical things I'm wondering how did you connect throttle cable to a throttle sensor in the engine bay .... did you modify that also or is it strait forward :82:

TNT, the minimum oil level on the dip stick is regarding the oil pick up. If the oil is lower it's not good. The bottom of the sump has bigger volume this is way it needs more oil to reach the minimum oil level. Then it needs 2 liters for maximum oil level like any other 75 V6.
z3kan, there was nothing strait forward with the 166 engine.  :tres: Everything was custom made to connect the throttle cable to the sensor. After that i had to move the pedal stopper to ensure 100% throttle opening. You can see what I've made on the first video.
